Irish & Other Roots

• That the Borens came to this continent from Ireland is a story that is argued for by some Boren family members as well as Kerry Boren in, The Boren Family: An Irish Legacy. I think that DNA testing will eventually reveal the truth.
• English Borens: In 1871 an Eliza Boren was baptized at Featherstone, York, England. Her parents were John and Sarah Boren. Source: England, Births and Christenings, 1538-1975. Salt Lake City, Utah: FamilySearch, 2013.

Boren Family Lines

The following profiles are of the gentlemen thought, as of 2019, to be the progenitor of a Boren family line.

• William Boren from ? to Virginia & Maryland.
• Elijah Boren of Nantucket Island, he and his brothers, and/or his parents are said to have immigrated from England.
• Nicholas Boren this family first shows up in Pennsylvania, they are thought by his descendants to have come from Ireland.
• John Boren possibly a brother of William Boren, his descendants spell their surname "Bowren."

Boren/Bowen

• Some Boren and Bowen families are connected by a common Welsh ancestor Robert Ap Lewis. That surname was changed to Bowen with Moses Bowen.
• There was a family of Bowens living in Calvert County, Maryland at the same time the Borens were living in Cecil County, Maryland. I can't find a connection between them.

African-American Borens

• Several Boren and related ancestral families owned slaves, this has been verified by their wills. According to DNA tests, I Dusty Boren have several African-American cousins. Since no African-American Ethnicity shows up in my DNA test results. It's likely that a Boren male(s) and one or more of his slaves produced children, such as in the case of Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemmings. If anyone has information on this subject, they are welcome to reply on this page.
